Barry Larkin hopes that baseball will be clean

The retired baseball player Barry Larkin notices about his negative attitude towards athletes that have ever taken anabolic steroids and/or other prohibited drugs. He says that such baseball players that have ever been associated with performance-enhancing drugs must not enter the Baseball Hall of Fame. To be in the Hall of Fame is the greatest honor that is received by baseball players. Barry Larkin has been elected for the Hall of Fame last year. He believes that steroid users should not receive the highest honor. They should understand that they have made a serious mistake, when they have made a decision to use steroids and/or other related preparations. Their decision means that they should be kept out of this club forever.
Barry Larkin belongs to the most successful baseball players. He has acquired some awards, while playing professional baseball.
Barry Larkin also notes about Pete Rose who is kept out of the Baseball Hall of Fame. This man has gambled on baseball games. That’s why he has been banned from professional baseball for the entire life. So, he doesn’t have any possibility to be introduced to the Hall of Fame. Barry Larkin notes that those that have ever used prohibited drugs should get similar suspension. They must not be introduced into the Hall of Fame.
Barry Larkin has played during the steroid era. He doesn’t intend to demonize those that have played with and against him. He doesn’t make hasty conclusions about other baseball players. Barry Larkin claims that no any athlete should be demonized, if his guilt has not been proven. He remains to be innocent until it will be obvious that he has actually applied anabolic steroids and/or other related medicines.
Barry Larkin also takes part in educating young sportspeople about dangers associated with administration of steroids. He has established a charity foundation that has been called after his name. Thus, the former successful baseball player puts great efforts to make baseball clean. He convinces young athletes not to use anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. FDA made some proposals to prevent manufacturing of contaminated drugs

The fungal meningitis outbreak that began in September last year had serious influence on America. Contaminated injectable steroids were manufactured by the New England Compounding Center (based in Massachusetts) and introduced by numerous persons. As a result, more than 400 persons were contaminated with fungal meningitis in over 20 states. 39 persons sickened with this disease died. 14 deaths happened in Tennessee.
It became obvious that it was necessary to do something in order to prevent such situations. Contamination must not occur in future. The FDA had to meet with representatives of all states in order to discuss this situation. Thus, recently a conference took place in order to discuss ways related to prevention of contamination in the future.
It was specified during the conference that new rules on compounding pharmacies should be elaborated.
Representatives of certain states specified that they did suitable job in their states and no any person experienced problems connected with contamination. Moreover, they noted with criticism that they were not aware of what happened in other states.
As for the FDA, its authority over such situations is limited. Federal court cases that were during past years weakened the authority of the FDA substantially. In addition to these problems, several rules seem to be unclear.
Margaret Hamburg, the FDA Commissioner, expressed the proposal to improve the situation through the following modifications:
- to control training of state regulators;
- to promote sharing information between the FDA and states;
- to get rid of ambiguity in rules.

These points seem to be fair. Such changes must help to promote improving public health of Americans. Of course, if rules contain ambiguity, no any agreement will be achieved. That’s why new rules should be elaborated and existing laws should be modified.
The FDA hopes that state regulators will cooperate with it in order to prevent producing and shipping contaminated medications.

Historians will be interested more in Lance Armstrong’s case than in Jerry Sandusky’s actions

The year 2012 has gone away. Thinking about 2012, what will you note about sports? Which names will you pronounce? Will you note about amazing baseball players? Will you talk about the ashamed American cyclist Lance Armstrong? Will you note about the London Olympics? Will you mention about concussions of football players? Will you say about suicides committed by certain professional football players? What will you note about Melky Cabrera?
Undoubtedly, everyone will remember the case connected with Lance Armstrong while thinking about sports of 2012. Every individual will mention about the role of anabolic steroids in cycling and in other sports. Any individual will note about possible undesirable consequences of anabolic steroids taken for enhancement of muscle mass and strength. Any individual interested in sports will remember what reporters have stated about steroids, lying in sports and certain methods of sportspeople to succeed in professional sports.
Thinking about sports of 2012, you will probably comment the steroid era in baseball and integrity of this sport. You will also notice about dreadful actions of Jerry Sandusky and his coaching career at Penn State.
But let think what future generations will remember. What will historians note one hundred years later? Will they focus on cases related to James LeBron, Melky Cabrera and Jerry Sandusky? Will they talk over concussions of NFL players? However they will probably discuss these situations, the most heat debates will be connected with Lance Armstrong’s steroid scandal. This is a case which will be never forgotten. Many individuals will remember achievements of Lance Armstrong in cycling and his further downfall. Of course, they will also note about his foundation Livestrong and influence of his spoiled reputation upon the charity organization. They will remember that usage of steroids resulted in loss of Tour de France titles, distancing from Livestrong and several other troubles. Lance Armstrong will be ever in the memory of the American society.

Chances of steroid users to be in Hall of Fame

Fans of baseball and numerous other individuals seem to be indignant by results of voting for the Hall of Fame. Several great players have not entered the Baseball Hall of Fame. It is quite naturally that you also ask why they have not been elected. Under guidelines of voting, those that have displayed brilliant baseball abilities and contributed to their teams essentially should be elected. Undoubtedly, such baseball players, as Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, Mark McGwire and some other sportspersons have manifested splendid abilities and achievements while playing professionally. Why aren’t they elected for the Baseball Hall of Fame?
Many voters say that they will never support those that have ever been related to anabolic steroids and/or other related preparations. Dopers must be punished. Future generations should realize that they will never actually succeed, if they administer doping products.
What would you do, if you were a voter? Would you support dopers?
Actually, voters never possess entire information about admitted and suspected steroid users. You can’t prove that Roger Clemens has really taken doping products. Many individuals have suspicions but there is no any steroid evidence. How may voters refuse to support him? Are they sure that he has applied anabolic steroids and other banned drugs? –No, they aren’t. That’s why it is wrong to keep Roger Clemens out of the Baseball Hall of Fame only because of suspicions.
While several voters are ready to support suspected dopers, they state that they will never vote for an admitted consumer of steroids. Although it seems to be right, let analyze the situation better! Have anabolic steroids played any great role in success of certain baseball player? For example, if even Roger Clemens has applied doping products, it is possible to convince anyone that he has had great success not because of steroids. Amazing achievements of this well-known baseball player have been manifested before his alleged usage of steroids. According to some affirmations, Roger Clemens has administered steroids since 1998 and then in 2000 and 2001.  But the most amazing accomplishments have been done by him before 1998. So, nobody can state that steroids have helped Roger Clemens to have such great success. That’s why he should be in the Hall of Fame.
Moreover, why are numerous individuals inclined to blame only consumers of steroids? Isn’t it the society that presses sportspeople to start applying anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs?

Should Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Roger Clemens enter Hall of Fame?

Some members of the Baseball Hall of Fame allege that consumers of steroids must never be in their club. They claim that such baseball players, as Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens don’t deserve to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame. They are very happy that these athletes didn’t receive needed percentage of voting to enter the Hall of Fame. According to them, it is correct. They suggest that otherwise our kids will be in confusion. They will believe that they are permitted to use anabolic steroids and whatever they desire and remain unpunished. So, it would be a bad example for future generations. Al Kaline, Goose Gossage and some others that belong to the Baseball Hall of Fame have this opinion. They even notice about cycling, as a good example to follow.
What happened actually in the world of cycling? The famous American cyclist was accused of taking forbidden preparations. As a result, he lost his 7 Tour de France titles and sentenced to life-time suspension.
Thus, certain members of the Baseball Hall of Fame affirm that cycling is a good example for baseball. Baseball players that are found guilty of doping should be excluded from this sport entirely. Record books must not include information about success of those that have been caught using forbidden substances. Those that have cheated should be punished properly.
Nonetheless, not every member of the Baseball Hall of Fame has similar point of view. For example, Juan Marichal supports Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, etc. He claims that these baseball players should be elected for the Hall of Fame. These individuals are stars in baseball. No one could prove that they have really taken doping products. Since there is no any proof, suspicions cost nothing.
Under rules related to voting for the Hall of Fame, baseball players that have amazing skills and those that have contributed to their teams obviously should be in the Hall of Fame.  No one doubts that Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens were great players. They made substantial contributions to their teams. That’s why they should be elected for the Hall of Fame.

Remember: Angel “Memo” Hernandez is not only coach

Each fan saw that the body of the American boxer Juan Manuel Marquez had been changed essentially. What caused such obvious changes in the sportsman?

Angel “Memo” Hernandez has been employed as a strength coach of Juan Manuel Marquez. This individual was related to the BALCO scandal. As it was learnt, this man supplied a lot of elite sportspersons with anabolic steroids and other doping products. He provided information about certain sportspersons that obtained banned substances from him.

Furthermore, he added that weight was not the most important factor while fighting. According to Juan Manuel Marquez, a fighter should possess intelligence, speed and strength in order to win.
Neither Juan Manuel Marquez, nor Manny Pacquiao was tested for forbidden drugs before the match. Such tests are usually applied by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after fights.
