7-time Tour de France winner admits to doping

The American cyclist Lance Armstrong was denying doping for years. However he was accused of administering banned drugs many times, he continued to claim that he never applied prohibited drugs. Even when the USADA proved that the cyclist doped, he cheated about doping. But finally, Lance Armstrong decided to admit to using EPO, testosterone and blood transfusions.
However numerous athletes applied doping products and avoided detection successfully, there was anything uncommon in the doping case of the legendary American cyclist. Lance Armstrong reached great success in sports. He won Tour de France races 7 consecutive times. He got also certain other awards. The American cyclist got worldwide success. Although he submitted to a lot of drug tests, he never tested positive for any prohibited drug.
Undoubtedly, Lance Armstrong is not the only athlete who has doped. Athletes have applied forbidden medicines during past years. They continue to use anabolic steroids and other related medications today. And professional sportspersons will administer them in future. Application of anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs is spread in professional sports. Almost each athlete uses banned medications. While certain sportspersons test positive for banned preparations and get bans, others avoid detection.
When it comes to the attitude to Lance Armstrong’s doping, it’s mainly negative. Numerous persons got significant anger, when the prominent cyclist admitted to administering EPO, the steroid testosterone and blood transfusions. A lot of individuals believed in him. They thought that the legendary American cyclist competed “cleanly”. That’s why their disappointment was significant.
And what is about “clean” sports? Anti-doping officers should think about this issue. While anti-doping officers claim that they have sophisticated tests to eradicate doping from sports, a lot of athletes administer anabolic steroids and/or other related drugs and avoid detection.
While the legendary cyclist has admitted to administering forbidden drugs, anti-doping agencies should realize that their policies are weak.

Przemyslaw Saleta doesn’t condemn Lance Armstrong for steroid use

Przemyslaw Saleta’s opinion about Lance Armstrong’s steroid use differs from that of many persons. The polish boxer doesn’t condemn the cyclist. Przemyslaw Saleta notes that Lance Armstrong has acted like almost every professional sportsperson. The 7-time Tour de France winner has used prohibited preparations and lied about his doping. It’s not surprising. Almost each sportsman applied steroids and other doping products.
While numerous sportspersons that take prohibited medications are caught by anti-doping agencies and sentenced to suspensions, Lance Armstrong has never tested positive for any forbidden medication. He was not caught, despites of having been subjected to thousands drug tests. Undoubtedly, Lance Armstrong is not the only athlete who has avoided detection successfully. Let take Chinese sportspersons as an example! They are sponsored by the state. The state provides money enough to acquire such drugs which are undetectable. So, many Chinese athletes apply performance-enhancing drugs without being caught. It becomes evident that sportspersons that have much money may take performance-enhancing drugs and remain undetectable. Lance Armstrong is only one of such athletes.
The polish boxer Przemyslaw Saleta has an uncommon proposal. He considers that anabolic steroids and other related preparations should be legalized in professional sports. According to this sportsman, steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs are not dangerous for health, if they are used by adults that possess sufficient information about ways to consume them correctly. Przemyslaw Saleta considers that administration of anabolic steroids and other related drugs by sportspeople should be monitored by specialists. Thus, athletes are likely to prevent severe side effects.
Moreover, Przemyslaw Saleta claims that steroids and other related products are indispensible in such sports, as cycling. Cycling is a sport where sportspersons have to endure too extreme conditions while training and competing. Thus, anabolic steroids and other related medicines help cyclists to maintain health in better conditions. Cycling in itself is dangerous without anabolic steroids and other doping products.
But Przemyslaw Saleta underlines that steroids and other related preparations should be forbidden in amateur sports. Moreover, young athletes must not be also permitted to apply these drugs because they may cause significant harm in them. Teenagers must not apply such preparations because they may suffer from grave unwanted results.
Nevertheless, Przemyslaw Saleta claims that it is wrong to suppose that steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs represent the key to success. According to him, success can be obtained with the help of hard working.

Thousands drug manufacturers violate laws

Thousands drug manufacturers violate laws. But just some of them are punished appropriately. A lot of compounding pharmacies avoid serious penalties without significant efforts. But only when serious scandals result from illegal actions of pharmaceutical companies, they are sentenced to appropriate penalties. For example, everyone is aware of the meningitis outbreak which has spread across the country because of contaminated steroids manufactured by a Massachusetts pharmaceutical company. Undoubtedly, owners and officers of the drug manufacturer will be punished appropriately. But when illegal operations of drug manufacturers don’t cause such serious problems, they continue with their business successfully.
The media reports about illicit actions related to anabolic steroids, painkillers and other prescription medicines day by day. But you may notice that compounding pharmacies get just light sentencing for illegal distribution of anabolic-androgenic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. So, athletes and bodybuilders have free access to doping products. They obtain anabolic steroids and other related preparations from compounding centers and use them for athletic needs. Furthermore, certain pharmacies provide fake prescriptions for anabolic steroids. Corrupt doctors supply customers of pharmaceutical companies with prescriptions which are given without needed examination of customers’ personal conditions.
Drug manufacturers are responsible not only for illicit sale of anabolic-androgenic steroids. Some companies manufacture drugs in unsterile conditions. As a result, thousands persons get contaminated medicines and experience grave complications, applying  these medicines. Several persons even die from contamination caused by intake of contaminated drugs. As you are probably informed, 39 persons died because of fungal meningitis caused by tainted methylprednisolone acetate injections.
The late contamination with fungal meningitis should have an impact on decisions of proper authorities. Criminal sanctions should take place. Otherwise, health of thousands individuals is in a serious danger. Prescription medicines must be sold just under real prescriptions. All products must be produced in sterile conditions. If pharmaceutical companies don’t obey all laws, they must be sanctioned. They must not be permitted to continue with business, if they violate laws. Loss of licenses should be accompanied by other serious penalties.

Do steroids promote developing cancer?

Although the disgraced American cyclist Lance Armstrong has already lost his 7 Tour de France titles and other awards, his steroid scandal is still widely discussed. Numerous persons are still expressing their thoughts linked with this case. Not only his alleged application of performance-enhancing drugs is disputed but several individuals also argue about Lance Armstrong’s testicular cancer. Why has Lance Armstrong got this illness in his young years? What has caused this disease in him?
Whoopi Goldberg, a famous American actress is also involved in disputes connected with Lance Armstrong’s doping scandal. While she has been mainly involved in debates related to marijuana and other related drugs, now she has chosen to join those that fight against steroids and other related medicines.
According to Whoopi Goldberg, Lance Armstrong has suffered from testicular cancer because of steroids. The actress thinks that anabolic-androgenic steroids are likely to result in cancer. She argues that these medicines may promote appearing and developing cancer. Whoopi Goldberg claims that experts should inform people about probable tights between steroids and cancer. The actress notices that specialists can find out whether steroids have sickened Lance Armstrong.
But what do other famous individuals consider about Lance Armstrong’s testicular cancer? Bob Weiner, a well-known political commentator, notes that anyone should be very careful while suggesting that steroids are responsible for development of cancer. This person realizes that these products result in lead to numerous unwanted results which are quite harmful for users’ health and even life. But he adds that it is unusual to demonize steroids for cancer. Such statements are serious. Bob Weiner believes that this issue has nothing to do with anti-doping morality.
Nevertheless, Bob Weiner is inclined to believe that Lance Armstrong’s testicular cancer has developed because of steroids. This illness normally doesn’t occur in young persons. Why then has Lance Armstrong got it? Since scientific literature supposes that links between cancer and steroid abuse may exist, Bob Weiner doesn’t deny statements of Whoopi Goldberg.
But as it has been already noted, this issue doesn’t belong to those of anti-doping policies. Anti-doping officers focus on morality and they don’t care about protection of sportspersons’ health.

Steroids for non-medical usage

Drug manufacturers are inclined to illegal operations. A lot of companies produce and sell counterfeit medicines. As a result, consumers don’t obtain needed benefits. Furthermore, fake medicines may lead to severe unusual unwanted results in consumers. In addition to these illicit activities, drug manufacturers also sell prescription preparations illegally. Anabolic steroids, HGH, painkillers and other products are sold without any prescription. So, a lot of individuals use these products for non-clinical purposes. Anabolic-androgenic steroids and other doping products are widely taken for athletic purposes. Athletes and bodybuilders get and take these medicines in order to increase muscle mass and get strength. Many individuals desire to be more muscular and combat tiredness during trainings and competitions. That’s why they choose to apply steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. Certain other individuals try to look more beautiful/handsome. Thus, they administer certain prescription preparations for anti-aging needs.
Anabolic steroids, HGH and other doping products are widely available at online pharmacies. Several companies even hire corrupt physicians who supply customers with proper prescriptions. These doctors provide prescriptions without suitable examination of clients and even without seeing them. Obtaining prescriptions, many persons buy anabolic-androgenic steroids and other related products and apply them for non-medical goals.
However distribution and usage of steroids for non-clinical purposes are prohibited under laws of many countries, numerous pharmacies avoid punishment successfully. While some companies and persons are found guilty of illegal actions related to medications, they are rarely punished properly. Furthermore, they continue to produce and distribute anabolic steroids illegally.
Another problem related to illicit manufacture and distribution of anabolic steroids and other related preparations is following: certain companies produce medicines in unsterile conditions. Thus, individuals that administer such preparations may be contaminated with several diseases. Sometimes contamination with a serious disease may be tragic for several consumers. The meningitis outbreak which has lately occurred in the USA is widely discussed around the world. 39 persons died because they applied tainted steroid injections. So, proper officials should control manufacture of medications. If safety is not at the top level, health of consumers is in a great danger.

FDA had to punish NECC earlier

In 2003 the FDA had in mind to close the New England Compounding Center (NECC) which recently caused the meningitis outbreak in certain states of America. The Massachusetts pharmacy produced tainted Methylprednisolone Acetate injections. Over 400 persons that applied the tainted steroid injections were sickened with fungal meningitis. This disease turned out to be tragic for 39 individuals.
According to a late report released by the House of Energy and Commerce Committee, the meningitis outbreak could have been prevented. The report presented many cases related to the NECC that should have been shut down by the FDA earlier.
The FDA claimed in 2003 that the Massachusetts pharmacy should not have manufactured medications till improving of the situation. But ultimately the FDA didn’t ban manufacture of drugs at the NECC. Since the NECC was claimed to be a pharmacy, it should have been monitored by Massachusetts officials. Thus, the FDA let Massachusetts colleagues to improve the situation. As for Massachusetts officials, they didn’t prohibit manufacture of preparations immediately. The NECC continued to produce medications. Just Barry Cadden, the owner of the company, got reprimand.
Furthermore, the NECC was guilty of several illegal actions. The company acted inappropriately under its license. While the NECC was a pharmacy, it acted as a manufacturer and shipped thousands doses of preparations to hospitals and individual patients.
In 2002 several persons got unusual side reactions after they had got bethamethasone injections manufactured by the NECC.
Later several persons who administered methylprednisolone acetate injections manufactured by the Massachusetts pharmacy were contaminated with bacterial meningitis. Since these individuals got full recovery because of antibiotics, the case was forgotten. The NECC was not punished for the tainted products.
These and even some other cases manifest that the Massachusetts pharmacy should have sanctioned earlier. The NECC should have been closed for its illegal and improper operations. But the Massachusetts pharmacy was never sentenced to any serious penalties. As a result, the pharmacy continued to manufacture preparations which were dangerous for consumers’ health. Ultimately, the meningitis outbreak caused by contaminated injections of the NECC spread to certain states and sickened a lot of persons. If the company had been shut down earlier, the contamination with deadly fungal meningitis would not have occurred.

FDA showed its negligence

The meningitis outbreak resulted from contaminated steroid injections could have been avoided. But since the FDA didn’t use its authority for this goal properly, over 500 persons were contaminated with this disease and 39 persons died.
Tennessee officials turned out to show unbelievable competence under such circumstances. They were praised by legislators for their decisive actions.
It was announced that numerous persons who had received steroid injections manufactured by the NECC suffered from complications. When Tennessee health officials were informed about this situation, they enforced all health facilities to discontinue using medications produced by the compounding pharmacy from Massachusetts. Furthermore, they informed immediately about contamination health officials of other states. Actions of Tennessee health officials were quick and decisive. They didn’t hesitate and did everything in order to prevent further contamination and improve help those that were already contaminated with meningitis.
If Tennessee health officials hadn’t been so decisive and competent, more individuals would have been contaminated with fungal meningitis and more deaths would have occurred.
As for the FDA, it showed incompetence. It didn’t use its power decisively in order to improve the situation. Then it attempted to justify its negligence, saying that its authority was not cleared and established enough to interfere in such large-scale pharmacies, as the NECC. However, legislators didn’t accept the FDA’s excuse.
Tennessee health officials merit getting a gold medal for their efforts.
However certain individuals consider that they could avoid contamination, warnings about risks still exist. Many individuals are still at the hospital. Others are visited by health officials. If any adverse effects occur at injection sites of those who have used the tainted steroids, they must inform physicians at once.
