Intake of metenolone by competitive athletes/bodybuilders

Nadzeya Ostapchuk, a Belarusian shot putter, won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games. But the female athlete lost the medal because she was caught using the anabolic steroid metenolone (methenolone). She was asked to provide two samples. The substance metenolone was found in both urine samples.
If you read news linked with doping, you must know that competitive athletes and bodybuilders are usually caught using other steroids and/or performance-enhancing drugs. But as for Nadzeya Ostapchuk, she was caught using metenolone. It is unusual, according to words of anti-doping officers. What does this banned medicine represent? Why don’t athletes usually administer this medicine for enhancement of performance?
Metenolone is an anabolic steroid. It has weak androgenic features. It works like testosterone, enhancing muscle mass and adding energy.
Although this steroid has only mild androgenic nature, it causes development of sex male characteristics in females. Women that take this medication may face typical effects of masculinization: the voice becomes deeper; excessive hair grows on the face and on other parts of the body; etc.
This preparation can be taken orally or injectionally.
Metenolone (Methenolone) produces amazing effects, when it is administered by sportspersons during their trainings. It is not applied during competitions. It doesn’t work, if it is taken only on the day of a competition.
It is also confirmed that it is easy to catch those that apply this anabolic steroid.
Adverse results of Metenolone (Methenolone) hinge upon measures that are takne. They are following: bloating, elevated calcium level in the blood, bone growth, hirsutism, acne, hair loss, abnormalities linked with menstrual cycles, enhanced libido, etc.
Thus, if you see a female athlete that has deep voice and excessive hair growth on the body, you may accuse her of doping. In fact, it is wrong because these problems may appear also in those women who don’t administer any steroids. But sometimes these signs manifest that certain women apply drugs that possess androgenic features.
