Names of 12 persons (four men and eight women) that belonged to jury at the case against Roger Clemens were released by the judge Reggie Walton.
The government wanted the jury to be convinced that the athlete had lied before the Congress about usage of steroids and HGH. But since the jury acquitted Roger Clemens, the government criticized the individuals that acted as the jury. Several individuals that served as the jury were interviewed.
A political activist, an art historian, a teacher of deaf kids, an official of Treasury Department and an employee of the Canadian Embassy were included in the jury.
The political activist Joyce Robinson-Paul was interviewed by the New York Daily News certain days after Roger Clemens was cleared of the charges. She noticed that the jurors knew that they had to be fair to both the federal prosecutors and the sportsperson. But they didn’t find anything that had to be prosecuted. Later she also confirmed that the federal prosecutor couldn’t prove their accusations.
Bradford Weaver, an employee of the Canadian Embassy claimed that the government acted wrongly. He noted that such cases should not be repeated. He also noticed that there was nothing to be prosecuted. Bradford Weaver was interviewed by the Associated Press. This person also claimed that each juror knew from the very beginning that Clemens was not guilty of any charge. Bradford Weaver claimed that each juror was unanimous.
The employee of the Canadian Embassy was also asked whether he considered that Roger Clemens really took steroids. The Associated Press also asked him whether he believed that the governmental case against the baseball player represented only the waste of taxpayers’ funds. But he didn’t answer the questions.
Another juror that chose not to be named stated that the jurors didn’t comprehend how the government made the decision to waste essential sums of money during five years in order to pursue Roger Clemens. This person confirmed that it was impossible to understand why the prosecution took place 5 years.
Other jurors didn’t present any information.
As for feds, they seemed to be totally disappointed. They declined to respond to the statements pronounced by the jurors.
