Sports nutrition stores offer for sale not only real nutrition supplements. They label steroidal compounds as dietary supplements and sell them. But authorities try to control and avoid sale of steroids as if they were just supplements. That’s why clerks of sports nutrition stores distribute steroids illegally. Those who come to such shops are frequently informed that they may buy steroids too.
But these factors are known not only by consumers of steroids but also by law enforcements. So, law enforcements conduct undercover investigations in order to bust sports nutrition shops that sell steroids. Clerks should understand that if a customer wants to obtain steroids, arranging a deal outside the store, he must be an undercover agent. That’s why those that are implicated in illicit actions related to sale of steroids should be quite cautious to avoid legal troubles. Although they know about these aspects, they make typical mistakes which lead to arrests, charges and prison.
Let present a story about a clerk of the General Nutrition Centers (GNC) store located in East Walpole (Massachusetts). George Touma sold steroids along with dietary supplements. When law enforcement officers were informed about illicit actions of this person, they started an investigation. The investigation lasted circa a month and was led by The Walpole Police Department.
An undercover agent came to the store often and bought nutrition supplements. He was speaking with the clerk very often. So, a friendly relation was established. Finally they discussed about anabolic steroids. The undercover officer said that he would like to obtain anabolic steroids. So, he agreed to get two vials of steroids from George Touma. The police officer had to give $300 for the preparations. The deal was arranged outside the shop. After the purchase had taken place police officers detained the clerk.
As a result, George Touma was charged with illicit possession and sale of anabolic steroids.
